Hello, these Catappa leaves are the same exact leaves I have been using in my shrimp tanks for years. I finally decided to put them up for sale. You don't need to boil them or treat them before adding them to your tanks, as these are 100% organic. Remove them from the bag and add them directly into your tanks! They will float for a few days before sinking.
Primary uses
1. Natural water conditioning
Release tannins and humic acids that slightly lower pH and soften water
Create “blackwater” conditions similar to natural habitats in Southeast Asia and the Amazon
2. Antibacterial and antifungal properties
Compounds in the leaves inhibit pathogenic bacteria and fungi
Commonly used to help prevent or support treatment of:
Fin rot
Fungal infections
Minor wounds
3. Stress reduction
Tinted water and bioactive compounds reduce fish stress
Particularly beneficial for Betta, discus, dwarf cichlids, rasboras, and wild-caught species
4. Shrimp health and breeding
Promote biofilm growth, a key food source for shrimp
Improve molting success and juvenile survival
Frequently used in Caridina and Neocaridina setups
Provide leaf litter for naturalistic aquascapes
Serve as grazing surfaces for microorganisms
Gradually decompose, contributing to a more biologically active system
